MTaI Applauds Uttar Pradesh’s Leadership in Building a Global MedTech Hub

Lucknow | The Medical Technology Association of India (MTaI) has praised the leadership and policy direction of Uttar Pradesh for its strong push toward becoming a global Medical Technology (MedTech) manufacturing hub. Speaking at an inaugural session, MTaI Chairman Pawan Choudary highlighted how sustained investments, manufacturing-friendly infrastructure, and a global outlook on research and development can position Uttar Pradesh as India’s largest MedTech manufacturing destination.

Interacting with the media, Choudary said that Uttar Pradesh is rapidly emerging as a trusted manufacturing destination, supported by strong governance, ease of doing business, and a robust logistics ecosystem. He noted that the state’s proactive commitment to building institutional capacity is creating a high-growth, long-term environment for industrial investment.

Emphasizing the unique requirements of the MedTech sector, Choudary said that physical infrastructure alone is not sufficient to sustain a strong MedTech ecosystem. He stressed the importance of a “hospital hub strategy,” stating that a well-developed healthcare delivery system is critical for MedTech innovation and scale.

“A strong hospital network is essential, and Uttar Pradesh’s healthcare footprint is truly impressive. MedTech clusters tend to grow around hospital hubs. Medical technology flourishes where there is a large, active healthcare delivery system, as this is where technologies are tested, refined, validated, and responsibly scaled,” he said.

He further pointed out that Uttar Pradesh’s extensive healthcare ecosystem—supported by leading medical institutions in Lucknow, Kanpur, and Meerut, along with the wide reach of the Ayushman Bharat scheme—creates significant demand and expansion opportunities for MedTech manufacturing. This broad base, he said, strengthens the local viability of MedTech production while enhancing global competitiveness.

Highlighting the way forward, Choudary underlined the need for a balanced policy framework that leverages both international and domestic capabilities. He said global companies bring advanced technologies and high-quality standards that help build markets, while Indian companies contribute affordability and scale, enabling wider access.

“Together, they create a synergistic partnership that advances the twin goals of quality and accessibility. Policy support must continuously enable this collaboration so that maximum health benefits reach patients at the grassroots level,” he added.

MTaI’s endorsement reflects growing confidence in Uttar Pradesh’s industrial and healthcare vision, reinforcing the state’s potential to emerge as a key player in the global MedTech manufacturing landscape.
